Our team will know right away if there’s something wrong with the return, but more importantly, we’ll be able to check for other types of scams as well.

New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) May 12, 2013

CTR is excited to announce the start of a new program that will help taxpayers who have been the victim of a tax scam and have tax debt problems. Last month the IRS released the “Dirty Dozen” tax scam list that will help taxpayers identify problems with their income tax returns. CTR’s Birmingham tax attorney led the charge to have the program instituted within the company.

“This is relatively minor tax debt problem nationwide,” said a CTR Spokesperson. “However, the problem with identity theft is a growing national concern and we want to provide assistance to taxpayers who end up in debt from these problems. The IRS can assess tax penalties, interest and even withhold refunds from a victim.”

The program is being run by CTR’s Sacramento tax attorneys who are concerned about new schemes affecting clients. The company will work with taxpayers to ensure that they are not victims of a tax scam. Many taxpayers can become victims by trusting the wrong person to prepare their tax returns. CTR is offering clients a free consultation, or “lookover” of their income tax returns to ensure that the information appears correct. Fraudulent tax preparers steal taxpayer information and tax refunds after making promises of high tax refunds. False tax preparers will avoid signing their names or even avoid showing their clients the tax return before filing.

“Our team will know right away if there’s something wrong with the return, but more importantly, we’ll be able to check for other types of scams as well,” said a CTR Spokesperson. “Inflated income or losses on a tax return can be seen as malicious to the IRS, we’ll catch it. False claims, missing deductions, and more, can yield larger tax refunds; a problem that the IRS may see as malicious and decide to press charges against. Our new program identifies these potential problems and helps clients fix them.”

The program has been tested by New Orleans tax attorneys who say the response from clients and individuals who signed up for the program has been excellent. Many taxpayers worried about tax identity theft and other scams successfully had questions answered. CTR’s analysts provide free consultations for any taxpayers interested.

CTR offers tax debt resolution and tax services for individuals and businesses across the United States. The company uses a three step program to create personalized strategies to help taxpayers settle their IRS debt. The company offers many services, including: state and federal tax debt resolution, IRS audit defense, tax preparation and bookkeeping.
