Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) May 13, 2013
Renewable Manufacturing Gateway, Inc. (RMG), a non-profit organization acting as the catalyst for regional job creation and economic development in the clean technology and renewable energy industries, and the Penelec Sustainable Energy Fund of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies (CFA), have co-invested in One Solar Energy LLC (One Solar), providing working capital for the continued optimization of One Solar’s silicon refinement technology.
One Solar will use a new, patented process to produce silicon for use in photovoltaic panels at a fraction of the current cost, lowering the cost of solar energy for the end user. The savings from the One Solar process are a result of an energy-efficient refinement process that yields solar-grade silicon with the same energy generation properties.
The One Solar refining facility is located in New Castle, Pennsylvania. The working capital provided by RMG and CFA will allow One Solar to continue to optimize their refinement process and secure sales agreements with silicon offtakers.
One Solar’s technology will redefine the solar silicon industry, and allow for expansion and affordability of solar power around the world. A planned full-scale plant in Beaver Falls will employ 40 people in material handling, processing, maintenance and administrative jobs, in addition to construction and equipment-related employment during the build out.
One Solar Energy LLC (One Solar) is in the business of producing, refining and selling solar-grade silicon to downstream manufacturers using silicon in their products, utilizing energy-efficient technology to remove impurities and creating cost savings.
