Solar Flares Intensify and Power4Patriots Recommends Homeowners Get off the Electrical Grid in Response

Solar flares could be aimed at the Earth later this year, according to NASA officials, and if strong enough, could cause significant damage to an electricity-dependent society. Power4Patriots recommends getting off the grid with solar panels and wind turbines.

According to YahooNews, intense solar flares and storms were observed May 1 and 3, 2013, by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory. Those solar flares were not aimed at the Earth, but the active region of the sun will be rotating to face Earth soon, NASA scientists say.

NASA officials also say that the sun’s normal 11-year activity cycle is ramping up toward solar maximum, expected late this year. If a solar storm aimed at Earth is strong enough, it could create an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) such as the Carrington Event that caused interruptions in global telegraph communications in 1859. More recently, solar flares have knocked out long-distance telephone communications and disrupted electric power transmissions in North America.

Today, X-ray telescopes in space and radio telescopes in space and on Earth provide alerts that solar flares are on the way, but even that advance information probably won’t help avoid disastrous results to communications systems if a flare similar to the one that struck in 1859 comes calling, according to the NASA website.

Power4Patriots strongly recommends that homeowners prepare for outages and get off the grid by building solar panels and wind turbines, slashing their power bills in the process.

Power4Patriots is a series of videos and manuals describing how to build solar panels, wind turbines, water heaters and solar heaters. The system includes six videos demonstrating how to build a solar panel, including choosing the right materials, finding the right site for the system and avoiding costly mistakes, as well as two instruction manuals with step-by-step, illustrated directions. It also includes four videos and two instruction manuals detailing how to build a wind turbine.

The company says that installing solar panels and a wind turbine at one’s home will cut energy costs by as much as 75 percent. On average, the costs are under $200 to build a solar panel and under $200 to build a wind turbine. Consumers who purchase already-made solar panels and wind turbines spend three to four times that amount. The time commitment to build a solar panel ranges from two to four hours, with the first one requiring more time than subsequent panels. A wind turbine requires a handful of hours to build.

Power4Patriots was created as a way to allow anyone to become independent of high power bills and outages. Cost-effective and uncomplicated, Power4Patriots teaches people how to build their own, environmentally friendly sources of energy.
