Over 35,000 people are expected to attend the much anticipated grand finale of the 2013 Amgen Tour of California which features 16 of the world's top-ranked Pro Teams from nine countries including two home-based teams from Santa Rosa. Located in the heart of Sonoma County Wine Country, Santa Rosa is known as one of the top cycling destinations in the world. It’s befitting it is the destination for the finish and will welcome racers as they cross the Golden Gate Bridge into Northern California. The town will host a number of interactive cycling events, entertainment and parties including an exclusive Question and Answer session with the Pro’s after the big finish. Racing champions Gilbert, Horner, Sagan, van Garderen, Farrar and more will participate in America’s Eighth Annual Premier Cycling Race which finishes up early morning of Sunday May 19th 2013. Guests can get up-close and personal and feel a part of the race with interactive events such as: Ride the Amgen Tour of California Route with Team Swift at 7:30AM, join retired Professional racer Steven Cozza for a ride along the finishing miles of the tour. Riders of all levels go at their own pace along the 35 mile course, receive a free gift and raffle ticket for a pair of VIP passes to the Stage 8 finish. Also at 7:30 AM,Ride 2 Recovery’s Honor Ride raises money for veterans, allows riders to cross the finish line and participation is open to all. Ride to the Finish: Echelon Cycle & Multisport lets amateur cyclists feel what it is like to ride on a closed race course with its 30-mile ride to the finish line (registration is free).
At 8:30 AM the Lifestyle Festival takes place at the finish line and features entertainment, food and family activities with local vendors; Liquid Image, Macy’s and Bike Monkey and exhibitors like Trek, NBC Sports Network, Visit California, Nissan, and Strava.
The Peloton Arrives around 11:30 AM making two laps around Downtown Santa Rosa and at 11:45 AM the Awards Ceremony will take place. Then from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM one can attend the big AMGEN Tour of California Afterparty! There will a question-and-answer session with the pro riders, food from Peloton Catering, and Lagunitas beer. Also Riders with the RadioShack-Leopard team will be at The Trek Store of Santa Rosa for a fund-raiser for Bike Sonoma. Tickets are $20 for bicycle coalition members and $25 for non-members.
