The National Camp Series (NCS) held its first Championship Camp in Atlanta, GA for high school kickers, punters and snappers on April 27th, 2013 according to NCS founder kicking coach Michael Husted.
“Our first NCS Championship Camp was very successful,” says Husted. "What I liked about this camp was that it was intimate. We weren't going out to gather as many people as possible, rather, we wanted to be able to conduct a camp where we were able to effectively work with each camper."
Snapping coach Brett White agrees with Husted saying many attendees showed great improvement by the end of camp.
"Great competition both young and old,” said snapping coach Brett White. “All snappers showed a willingness to adopt new techniques which led to significant improvements over the course of the camp."

Husted says the Championship Camps are an important addition to other National Camp Series camps which include NCS Divisional Camps and the annual Super Camp. The Championship Camps include the proprietary Kicking Index Evaluation (KIX), professional instruction by NFL players and concludes with competition in field goals, kickoffs, punts and long snapping.
Coaching at the Atlanta NCS Championship Camp with Husted was retired NFL punter Craig Hentrich, former NFL kicker/punter Marc Nolan and snapping coach Brett White.
Husted, who kicked in the NFL for 9 years, said the Atlanta Championship Camp, was a great opportunity for high school specialists to get instruction from coaches of the highest caliber, to compete, and to be evaluated objectively.
“Having the opportunity to get instruction by retired NFL players who have succeeded at all levels of football, be accurately and fairly evaluated using our Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System, and getting to compete with other kicking specialists ensures that the NCS Championship Camps will be the most comprehensive camp available,” says Husted.
Following are the results of the Atlanta Championship ‘Last Man Standing’ event:

Husted says the Atlanta Championship Camp was a one-day event that provided:
•An official evaluation using NCS' objective and proprietary Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System.
•Professional instruction by retired NFL kickers and punters who coach specialists on a regular basis.
•Competition that teaches you to manage pressure situations.
•Awards provided by Wizard Kicking.
•An opportunity to get selected for the US Army All American Game.
Husted says the goal of all NCS events, including the NCS Championship Camps, is to help high school students develop their skills, and help position and prepare them to be, college athletes.
“These Championship Camps are an integral part of the complete NCS system which objectively rates players for colleges and universities by utilizing its unique Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System,” says Husted. “Having collected data from our events over the past 10 years, our algorithm takes key variables into account when computing our ratings.”
“The NCS levels the playing field for those who don't want to get caught up in all of the 'politics' that occurs in the kicking industry,” says Husted. “If you can kick, punt or snap, the NCS KIX system will let a young kicking specialist’s skills speak for themselves. No excuses. No explanations."
Husted says the next NCS Championship Camp being held in Dallas, TX, on May 19, 2013.
