IHMRS Accepting 2013 Gold Key Award Entries

Call for Entries: 33rd annual Gold Key Awards -- Entry Deadline: July 1, 2013

The International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show® (IHMRS) invites hospitality designers from around the world to submit entries for the 33rd annual Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design, the premier interior design competition for the industry. New this year, the coveted Awards have been expanded to fourteen categories – Best Hotel Luxury/Upscale; Best Hotel Midscale; Best Hotel Budget/Focused Service; Best Resort; Best Guest Room Luxury/Upscale; Best Guest Room Midscale/Budget/Focused Service; Best Lobby Luxury/Upscale; Best Lobby Midscale/Budget/Focused Service; Best Restaurant Fine Dining; Best Restaurant Casual Dining; Best Spa; Best Suite; Best Eco-Conscious or Socially Conscious Hotel; and Judges’ So Cool. Entries must be submitted by July 1, 2013.

Designers of hotels, motels, timeshares, restaurants, clubs, cruise ships, casinos, conference centers, spas and other hospitality facilities are encouraged to enter the competition, which last year considered more than 200 submissions representing 23 countries and territories. Entries must represent new design or renovation projects completed between January 1, 2012, and June 1, 2013. Entry fee is $150. All entries will be judged by a panel of prominent designers representing both the hotel and restaurant industries.

Finalists and grand prize winners will be honored at the Gold Key Awards Reception on Sunday evening, November 10, 2013, sponsored by Boutique Design Magazine and HOTELS Magazine. The event, which serves as a scholarship fundraiser for NEWH, the Hospitality Industry Network, will take place from 6:00-8:30 pm (venue TBD) during the 98th annual International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show and 4th annual Boutique Design New York (BDNY) event. The ceremony will also include the presentation of the “Designer of the Year” Award by Boutique Design Magazine and HOTELS Magazine. In addition, NEWH, the Hospitality Industry Network, will present its “Icon of the Industry” distinction.

The 98th annual International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show will run Saturday, November 9, through Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Following the Hospitality Leadership Forum, a full-day of conference and networking activities, on Saturday, November 9, the IHMRS will feature three days of exhibits of new products and services for hotels and foodservice properties from Sunday, November 10, through Tuesday, November 12. IHMRS is co-located with 4th annual Boutique Design New York (BDNY), featuring suppliers of high-end, unique and innovative interior design products for hospitality. The combined market presents over 1,000 hospitality industry suppliers and attracts more than 22,000 trade visitors.
