Hatsize, the leading provider of global training labs for software and hardware products, today launched Hatsize 4.0, the latest release of their flagship cloud-based training lab product, which includes a new, intuitive and highly interactive interface for instructors and students called Hatsize Lab View, which is designed to help students and instructors optimize their learning experience.
“Hatsize 4.0 is a truly next generation training lab platform, which includes a new, state-of-the-art instructor and student interface that makes lab-based learning easier and more interactive," said John Tossing, MicroTek Technical Sales Director.
“Designed with extensive usability testing, Hatsize 4.0 is a groundbreaking release for the training lab market. It provides a cutting-edge interface that makes lab-based learning easier and more engaging and it enhances the user experience by putting more interactive control in the hands of instructors and students,” said Guy Hummel, Hatsize CEO. “For example, the ability to see at a glance what is happening on every lab machine in the class, even with complex, multi-machine labs, gives online instructors more visibility into their students’ progress than even a physical classroom would provide.”
New Hatsize Lab View features in Hatsize 4.0 include the following:
Graphical System Controls: Hatsize Lab View enhances the learning experience by making system control easily accessible from multiple locations, including the clickable topology map, active thumbnails as well as a newly designed set of system control menus. The graphical system controls are intuitively designed and context sensitive, allowing students and instructors to easily access the menu and select their system operation.
Active Thumbnail Views: With the newly designed thumbnail system, instructors and students can get a high-level view of what is happening across all of the systems in their classroom or individual lab, respectively. Hatsize Lab View takes thumbnails to the next level by making them active and intelligent. Instructors benefit because they can see all of their students’ machines in a classroom from a single ‘virtual view’ plus they can access any machine with a single click. Students benefit because they can use thumbnails to get single-click access to systems without any additional menu navigation or system logons.
Student Locator: Instructors can quickly locate which systems their students are working on with the "Student Locator". This enables instructors to quickly scan the thumbnail interface to determine if all of their remote students are keeping up and working on the latest lab exercise.
Student Management System: Hatsize Lab View makes virtual student management easier than ever for instructors. In addition to providing instructors the ability to shadow and mentor students in a virtual environment – capabilities that Hatsize has had for some time – Hatsize Lab View now offers instructors “single-click access” using thumbnails to quickly open an “over the shoulder” view of a student’s progress and take control of the student’s system for one-on-one instruction with a single click of the embedded controls while still in view mode. This breakthrough student management system eliminates the need for instructors to switch from one screen to another and enables them to provide a truly interactive level of virtual mentoring.
Enhanced Clickable Topology: Hatsize has used the clickable topology as a primary way to intuitively present complex system configurations to instructors and students. With Hatsize Lab View, users get all of the advantages of a graphical representation of their environment plus they can now get system access and controls directly from the clickable topology. The clickable topology can now be used as the graphical map or guide to the environment as well as the gateway to the systems.
