Our hope is that people use the app not only to find the brands that they love, but also to discover new brands they might be enticed to try because it’s on sale.

Craft Beer Week has been an American tradition since 2006, with over 1,300 events taking place across the country to promote previously unknown beers and specialty microbrews. No doubt, swarms of people will be hitting up local breweries and tasting events, but the party doesn’t have to end there.
“We find that a lot of people like to host their own tasting parties or find the beers that they’ve discovered at festivals in the stores. That’s where SaveOnBrew helps. Craft beer is notoriously more expensive than macro swill like Budweiser and Coors, but we let people know whenever a craft beer is on sale, so they never pay full price.”
When SaveOnBrew first started their nationwide beer price database in 2010, they had only a handful of brands and hundreds of stores, mostly in Texas. Today, they are posting between 150,000 and 250,000 beer deals at any given time, with more than 50,000 retailers advertising their specials. “It’s really taken off, wildly,” says founder Mark Davidson.
Site visitors can search for craft beer, specifically, by entering a zip code and narrowing their search to “microbrews.” There are many different craft brands, ranging from Magic Hat, New Belgium and Sierra Nevada, to Deschutes, Full Sail, and Elysian. The brands come and go in the database, explains Davidson, because not every beer is on sale in a given city every week.
“Around St. Patrick’s Day it was Guinness deals everywhere, but normally, you’ll be hard-pressed to ever find Guinness on sale,” says Davidson. “So we got a lot of emails wondering where the deals went. It’s the marketplace, my friend!”
Davidson explains: “Our hope is that people use the app not only to find the brands that they love, but also to discover new brands they might be enticed to try because it’s on sale. Our beer blog covers a lot of recommendations, reviews, and ‘best beer’ lists as well, so consumers can cross-reference the sales with our commentary to decide if they want to take a chance on a new microbrew.”
Consumers who have downloaded the SaveOnBrew mobile app on iTunes so far have left the following comments:
“Love the filters options – it’s quick and easy to use!”
“Now I don’t have to look at the newspaper ads for deals – saves time and money!”
“Found my favorite beer on sale right around the corner – nice!”
“Who doesn’t love a cold beer and a good deal? This is a win-win!”
“Wow, where has this app been all my life??”
Best of all, website and mobile app are completely free to use. Craft beer lovers can shop the sales at SaveOnBrew or download the app from iTunes or Google Play.
