Irvine, CA (PRWEB) May 14, 2013
California Southern University will announce the recipient of the 2013 CalSouthern Difference Award at a ceremony at the online university’s Irvine, California campus on June 7 at 12:00 p.m. The award is presented annually to a CalSouthern student or alumnus who makes a difference in his or her area of practice, field of study or local community through distinguished scholarship, innovation or service.
The CalSouthern Difference Award will be accompanied by a $2,500 cash prize to be donated—in the recipient’s name—to a charitable or philanthropic organization of the recipient’s choosing. Award winners currently enrolled as students at the university also may choose to have the financial award applied to their tuition costs.
“Our selection committee has identified the recipient of the 2013 CalSouthern Difference Award, and we eagerly look forward to the June 7 presentation,” says University President Dr. Caroll Ryan. “This person has overcome what to most people would have been insurmountable challenges to achieve an advanced education. Our winner then applied the acquired knowledge and skills to help others meet similar challenges and turn their lives around. The recipient is the perfect embodiment of the ideals upon which the CalSouthern Difference Award was founded and is a source of inspiration to the entire university. It will be an honor to join with the entire CalSouthern family in celebrating our winner’s contributions to the community and accomplishments in the face of adversity.”
The ceremony will be attended by CalSouthern students, alumni, faculty and staff, as well as members of the print and electronic media. The award presentation will be preceded by a light luncheon. Members of the media interested in obtaining press credentials are invited to contact CalSouthern’s Editor of University Publications Tom Dellner at (800) 477-2254, ext. 4261 or at tdellner(at)calsouthern(dot)edu.
