Wilmington, MA (PRWEB) May 15, 2013

Security Innovation, a leader in application security assessment and training, announces immediate availability of the latest version of TeamMentor. In association with this release, Security Innovation is issuing the “TeamMentor Challenge,” a competitive opportunity for development and security teams to create new use cases, prescriptive guidance or innovative case studies using TeamMentor.

TeamMentor is the leading application security content management and guidance platform, providing timely, consistent and prescriptive guidance to help software development teams create more secure applications through timely implementation of best practices while remaining compliant with internal and external requirements.

TeamMentor v3.3 introduces integration with the Checkmarx CxSuite, correlating scan results with TeamMentor’s prescriptive security guidance to help users of CxSuite to more quickly identify and fix software vulnerabilities. In addition to this capability, the new vulnerability library in v3.3 will provide teams with a set of pre-defined vulnerabilities that are mapped against static analysis findings.

"Static analysis tools are important for the enterprise, but you actually have to do something with the results," said Wendy Nather, Research Director, 451 Research. "Having prescriptive guidance can make all the difference in your ability to reduce application security risk."

With the release of TeamMentor 3.3, Security Innovation is issuing the first “TeamMentor Challenge” encouraging teams or individuals to highlight unique use cases, and contribute their expertise to the growing community of professionals that benefit from TeamMentor as their preferred destination for application security guidance.

Participants can compete in up to three challenge categories:

1.TeamMentor Guidance Library – TeamMentor’s 4500+ articles are organized into guidance libraries. Participants can submit their own guidance library of best practices across technologies, scripting languages, threats, or anything else. The winner receives an Apple iPad.

2. Customization Use Case – TeamMentor is XML-based, so it is flexible, easy to integrate and fully customizable. Participants are encouraged to submit their specific customization or integration of TeamMentor with another product or specific security policies. The winner receives a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet.

3. Case Study – Security Innovation publishes a series of test sites, specifically designed to be vulnerable and therefore exploitable. We’re looking for participants to submit a case study outlining how using TeamMentor can be used to help remediate one of these sites. The winner receives a Google Nexus 10 tablet.

“We’re excited to release this latest version of TeamMentor, because it represents a major step in how we integrate and interact with static analysis tools,” said Jason Taylor, Chief Technology Officer, Security Innovation. “I’m particularly excited about the TeamMentor Challenge, because we’ve architected TeamMentor to let teams completely customize how they use it or they can simply use it out of the box. As we build out the TeamMentor ecosystem, this challenge will demonstrate how creative and productive the platform can be.”
