The Oklahoma Chapter of the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) recognized Smith Roberts Baldischwiler, LLC (SRB) and their team’s collected efforts as the Gold Winner during their annual conference for Municipal Streets and Intersections Less Than 30,000 SY. SRB conducted the civil engineering while partnering with Legacy Engineering and Johnson & Associates, Inc. to complete the project. Contracting services were provided by Sherwood Construction Company, Inc. The team was nominated for this award because of their contribution to the PC 0387-Walker, California, Sheridan, Main, and Harvey commissioned by the City of Oklahoma City. Recipients of the Gold Award are submitted to ACPA for the national awards within their categories.
Due to the construction of the Devon Towner in downtown Oklahoma City, many infrastructure upgrades were mandatory, including an upgrade of the surround streets to concrete. The project consisted of tight working conditions and ADT counts of greater than 10,000 added to the complexity of this project that incorporated over 22,000 square yards of 8” dowel jointed concrete pavement on top of 8” aggregate base. Improvements consisted of 5,100 square yards of colored concrete intersections and colored bike lanes. The project is consistent to the testament of Oklahoma City’s commitment to downtown revitalization.
The ACPA is a national trade organization for concrete paving contractors, cement and material producers, equipment manufacturers and companies with that work with concrete airports, highways, roads, streets, and industrial pavements. The organization recognizes and awards projects that are submitted to the local ACPA chapters. A team of judges reviews the jobs and ranks them accordingly for recognition at the regional level.
