Rookies starting out in the NFL can have a very scary experience. Most are confused by the playbook, and some are so nervous that they make the smallest mistakes. This 2013 group of Packers rookies however seemed extremely willing and open to their experience. Cornerback Micah Hyde, a fifth round pick out of Iowa says that he will do anything he can, and play any position he can to prove himself and get some time on the field. Through the first two days of rookie camp he had played both outside and in the slot on defense, and he was also returning punts. Another example of versatility on the team of rookies is in linemen David Bakhtiari and JC Tretter. Both players started at left and right tackle, and then switched positions for Saturday’s second practice. It is known that not every single player will be dressed and ready to go on game days, so the more versatile and willing a player is, the better. http://www.packers.com/news-and-events/article-1/Packers-rookies-willing-and-able-to-shift-spots/2c83a3b2-9116-4472-9427-e73fbce7de83
Head coach Mike McCarthy had also made some change ups in the teams offensive line, with the objective in mind to protect the teams most important asset, quarterback Aaron Rodgers. After some evaluation, McCarthy decided that Bryan Bulaga and Josh Sitton were the team’s best linemen. Although the move is not very complex, the coaches put a lot of time and thought into it. It is important to utilize what you have, and that’s exactly what the McCarthy plans on doing. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2013/05/12/green-bay-packers-aaron-rodgers-offensive-line-bryan-bulaga-josh-sitton/2154385/
