Unicon, Inc., a leading IT consulting services provider specializing in open source for the education technology market, will be presenting and participating in a total of 25 technical seminars and presentations at the upcoming 2013 Apereo Conference, “Opening Minds to Open Solutions,” being held in San Diego, California, June 2-7, 2013. Thirteen expert open source software developers and architects from Unicon will present on a variety of subjects pertaining to open source application deployment, development, and support for the online campus.

Unicon has a high involvement in the Apereo open source projects. Presenting and participating in conference sessions gives the Unicon open source experts a chance to share their work with the community. Sharing the latest progress on open source projects helps the community keep abreast of the latest project developments and aides in project collaboration. Unicon values the chance to collaborate on project development and to ensure that the projects continue to effectively serve institutions and organizations.

This year’s conference will be the first since Jasig and Sakai combined to form the Apereo Foundation. The inaugural Open Apereo conference promises to deliver rich and diverse sets of workshops, presentation sessions, birds of a feather discussions, and other networking events. Keynote speakers include Theresa Rowe, Chief Information Officer, Oakland University, who will be speaking on the topic “Challenges, Encouragement, and Women in IT - Does it Matter?”

Apereo is taking that pioneering work further, providing a better organizational umbrella for projects and software communities serving higher education.
