While science and new clinical tools are important, they cannot replace the Twelve Steps
Derry, NH (PRWEB) June 09, 2013
C4 Recovery Solutions, a leader in continuing education for addiction professionals, has expanded with the addition of a new conference, the Clinical Overview of the Recovery Experience (C.O.R.E.), to be held July 21-24, 2013 at the Omni Amelia Plantation Resort in Amelia Island, Florida.
The First Annual C.O.R.E. conference highlights the critical importance of 12-Step processes and abstinence-based recovery and presents new options for productively integrating useful clinical tools into a larger recovery-oriented treatment culture. C.O.R.E. is an opportunity for addiction professionals to advance their understanding of the principles behind abstinence-based recovery practices. The conference is structured as a forum to increase the collective understanding of recovery processes, and the goal is to improve outcomes by better integrating abstinence-based practices and Twelve-Step principles into therapeutic initiatives.
C.O.R.E.’s faculty are leaders in the addiction field including Robert Mooney, MD; Judith Landau, MD, ChB, DPM, LMFT, CAI BRI II; Burns Brady, MD, ASAM, FASM, ABFP, FAAFP; C.C. Nuckols, PhD; Christopher Kennedy Lawford, and many more. The conference will offer 22 workshops, and attendees can earn up to 21 continuing education credits.
Developed more than 75 years ago, the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous have withstood the test of time and science to emerge as a primary foundation for recovery from both alcoholism and drug addiction. “Many conferences focus on science and practice but with an alarming and growing emphasis on drug replacement therapies. Recovery is increasingly playing a secondary role,” states John Leonard, a C.O.R.E. founding member. “While science and new clinical tools are important, they cannot replace the Twelve Steps as a key means of facilitating the personal growth that is necessary for a sustainable and long-term recovery.”
Registration is currently open. For more information, visit the C.O.R.E. website at http://www.CORE-Conference.com or contact Dee McGraw, Director of Education & Event Services for C4 Recovery Solutions, at 615-581-4855.
