Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) June 08, 2013
Sports marketing and event management company Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE) announced today it has partnered with local race directors Tom and Laurie Amatucci to handle all operations associated with the Baltimore Women’s Classic. Baltimore’s premiere all-women’s 5K race will begin and end at Rash Field on June 23rd and all race proceeds will provide direct support services for gynecologic cancer patients and their families across the state of Maryland through Baltimore Women’s Classic, Inc., a 501 © 3 public charity and their network of partner hospitals.
Lee Corrigan, President of CSE, said, “With our access to endurance athletes in the Baltimore/Washington market, we expect to grow the Baltimore Women’s Classic field beyond the 4,000 participants. Rash Field is a perfect location for a fun, festive summer race and we look forward to adding our level of professional race management to this great event.”
Tom Amatucci said, “After 11 years of continuous participant growth starting with 300 in 2003 to nearly 4,000 in 2012, it is time to partner with a professional organization to assist the BWC on two fronts: Firstly, to continue the tradition of this historic woman’s race celebrating its 38th consecutive year and secondly, to help fuel the growth of the field with more women of every age, size and athletic ability. We look forward to achieving these goals with our new partner.
The 5K race begins at 8 am. In addition, there will be a co-ed kids race at 9am. On-site race day registration opens at 6:30 am as does the Festival Village with more than 30 vendors and exhibitors.
The Baltimore Women’s Classic has a long and storied history dating back to 1976. Since then, thousands of women have participated in Baltimore’s premiere all-women’s race, both young and old, runners and walkers, the competitive and those out for a fun morning with friends. All race proceeds support women's causes. The race is intended to celebrate life, fitness and the power that lies inside each woman to take control of her health.
CSE owns and operates the annual Baltimore Running Festival, which attracted 26,000 runners to charm city in 2012 and generated and event record $38.6 million in economic impact and raised $1.7 million for local charities. The 13th annual festival is scheduled for October 12th, 2013 throughout the streets of Charm City.
