Rochester, NY (PRWEB) June 20, 2013
Foundation Financial Group has announced support for Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America’s Take Steps for Crohn’s and Colitis fundraising walk. The event will benefit those suffering from Crohn’s Disease and Colitis and will be attended by Foundation Financial Group volunteers from the corporation’s Rochester Regional Sales Center, located at 1 South Washington Street #3.
“Take Steps hits close to home; my brother-in-law is stricken with Crohn’s Disease, and I have seen it drastically impact his life,” said Foundation Financial Group Event Coordinator Nicholas Hallas. “I am not the only FFG team member with a loved one suffering from these debilitating diseases, which makes our upcoming participation in the Take Steps for Crohn’s and Colitis walk personally fulfilling. Supporting a worthy cause with my FFG coworkers unites us as team. The world is a much better place when we are all helping each other.”
A two mile stroll will take place on Saturday evening, June 22 at the Monroe Community College. While many suffer in silence, Take Steps brings those affected by digestive diseases together in a fun and energetic atmosphere and includes music, food, kids’ activities, and local entertainment. Taking place in over 150 communities, CCFA's Take Steps is the nation's largest event dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases.
Over 1.4 million American adults and children are affected by Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Men and women are equally affected by both diseases. Crohn's Disease is prevalent among adolescents and young adults, while Ulcerative Colitis is typically diagnosed in patients during their mid-30s. Inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis occur when helpful bacteria is mistaken for harmful bacteria and attacked by the immune system.
Founded in 1967, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America is a volunteer-driven organization with a mission to cure both diseases and improve the quality of life for children and adults affected by these diseases. Today, the organization has grown to 40 local chapters, with more than $150 million raised and invested in research for a cure. This funding has enabled groundbreaking treatments, improved the quality of care and brought the light of hope to countless people with digestive diseases.
