With the forthcoming twentieth anniversary of his debut album “Afternoon in Sedona”, flautist Nicholas Gunn is poised to release his latest album “Twenty Years of Discovery,” cataloging his musical progression through the past twenty years.
Since 1992, Gunn has been creating unique instrumental world music inspired by the locations he has visited in his travels. Set to be released through Spring Hill Music, “Twenty Years of Discovery” features thirteen of his previous works plus two new, unreleased tracks.
From North America's National Parks such as Yellowstone, the Smoky Mountains, and the Grand Canyon to the Mayan ruins of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, Gunn's work captures the essence of the natural wonders he visits.
Beginning with his 1993 release of “Afternoon in Sedona” up to last year's “Thirty-One Nights,” Gunn has had quite the extensive musical journey. From being commissioned by the Grand Canyon Association to take part in Real Music's National Park Series to selling over two million copies total from an astounding fourteen albums, it's no wonder he is in the upper echelons of contemporary instrumentalists.
From featuring Native American influences and Latin flavors to intertwining them with the heart and soul of the world around him, “Twenty Years of Discovery” encapsulates what is unique about Gunn's music. “This album is really about the fan favorites from over the years. It's a case study of my most popular tracks,” says Gunn.
“Twenty Years of Discovery” ultimately takes one not only through the wondrous beauty of the North American continent and its national parks, but through the compelling journey of Gunn's musical evolution.
“Twenty Years of Discovery” will be available through Spring Hill Music August, 2013 from all major digital and on-line stores wherever music is sold.
