Dallas, TX (PRWEB) June 17, 2013
The national plaintiffs’ law firm of Baron and Budd has, once again, been chosen to be part of the Legal 500, a prestigious list of the top law firms in the world. Since 2008, Baron and Budd has continually been chosen by the Legal 500 as one of the two top toxic tort firms in the country. The firm was one of only two law firms in the U.S. selected as a top tier law firm in the area of mass torts and class action litigation on behalf of plaintiffs. “I am honored to have been selected to this distinguished list of highly respected law firms,” said Russell Budd, president and managing shareholder of Baron and Budd. “I am proud of the hard work our attorneys do every day to help keep the courtroom doors open to anyone who has been harmed.”
The Legal 500 finds the “best of the best” by partnering with independent researchers to interview thousands of possible law firms in more than 90 countries worldwide. Their mission is to deliver objective commentary on law firms based on feedback from judges, clients and other attorneys in the same legal area. The directory calls its U.S. list “the guide to the preeminent firms in the world’s strongest and most competitive legal market.”
The 2013 selection highlights the firm’s “outstanding” levels of service during the litigation process. Baron and Budd mesothelioma lawyer John Langdoc was acknowledged for achieving a $48 million verdict on behalf of a California mesothelioma patient and his family. (Bobbie Izell et al. v. Asbestos companies et al., case number BC469931, in the Superior Court for the State of California, County of Los Angeles.) This was the biggest mesothelioma verdict reached in 2012 of its kind. Shareholder Scott Summy, head attorney for the firm’s water contamination section, was also acknowledged for his part as lead counsel in the water contamination litigation concerning the herbicide, atrazine. Preliminary approval was given in the case for a proposed $105 million settlement last year. (City of Greenville v. Syngenta Crop Prot., Inc., 904 F. Supp. 2d 902 (S.D. Ill. 2012)
Shareholders Russell Budd and Steve Baron were also acknowledged as “key figures” at the firm.
Baron and Budd has built a national reputation as one of the most recognized plaintiffs’ law firms in the United States. The firm has expanded far beyond its initial cornerstone asbestos practice into other important legal areas, including water contamination, financial fraud, Gulf oil spill, pharmaceuticals, deceptive advertising and others. This is the eighth time that the firm has been selected to the National Law Journal’s prestigious Plaintiffs’ “Hot List” as an exemplary law firm. The firm was also recently chosen as a finalist for the Public Justice 2013 Trial Lawyer of the Year Award for its work on the atrazine contamination lawsuit. (City of Greenville v. Syngenta Crop Prot., Inc., 904 F. Supp. 2d 902 (S.D. Ill. 2012)
