Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) June 14, 2013

Minnesota lawyers Fred Pritzker, Brendan Flaherty and of Counsel David Szerlag have filed several lawsuits against Stryker Orthopaedics seeking compensation for patients with Stryker Rejuvenate and ABGII hip implants.* Now, a federal panel of judges has ordered that all Stryker hip lawsuits filed in federal courts throughout the United States be centralized in Minnesota for purposes of pretrial procedures.** This is called multidistrict litigation (MDL), according to Pritzker.

“Consolidating federal cases in Minnesota should help move the litigation forward,” said Pritzker. “The benefit of consolidation is that pretrial procedures will not have to be duplicated, yet each lawsuit maintains its own identity. This is a strategy we have used successfully in the past.” Pritzker, Flaherty and Szerlag are providing free consultations to patients who want information about a suit against Stryker seeking compensation for medical expenses, lost income, pain, disability, emotional suffering and other lawful damages.

The federal Stryker Rejuvenate and ABGII personal injury cases will be under the jurisdiction of Judge Donovan W. Frank of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota (In re: Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2441).

The Minnesota Stryker litigation comes after a July 2012 recall of the metal-on-metal ABG II and Rejuvenate hip implants by Stryker. The FDA recall announcement states that Stryker issued the recall after reports of fretting and corrosion at the modular-neck and stem joint. The lawsuits allege that this fretting and corrosion caused toxic metal ions (chromium and cobalt) to leach into the tissue, bone and blood, causing metallosis (metal poisoning).
