Two engineering and innovation experts from B. Braun Medical will present their knowledge on behalf of B. Braun OEM Division (http://www.bbraunoem.com) at the 2013 Medical Design and Manufacturing East (MD&M) conference and exhibition, June 17-20, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
Ed Burnard, Manager of R&D Innovation, will present “Utilizing Lean Principles To Drive Innovation” on Mon., June 17, 3:45 p.m. The real-world case study style presentation will highlight the key challenges, pitfalls, opportunities and lessons learned in establishing an Innovation R&D department at B. Braun Medical. Burnard will review how it is possible to produce innovative results while controlling cost and resources.
In B. Braun’s booth (#3201), Joel Bartholomew, Innovation Manager, will give a presentation entitled “Broadening the Scope of Requirements When Selecting Valves for Medical Applications.” The 10-minute session will explain several critical valve requirements that are often overlooked or not communicated with suppliers, but can impact the final product function. Presentation times are 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Tues., June 18; 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Wed., June 19; and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thurs., June 20. A complimentary white paper on the topic will also be available.
Bartholomew’s presentation will be complemented by a hands-on valve station where attendees can learn more about B. Braun OEM Division’s complete portfolio of valves, including normally closed, low pressure, high pressure, in-line, dual check, aspiration, trumpet and needle-free options. Hemostasis products and stopcocks will also be featured.
