NeoSpeech, a leader in text-to-speech (TTS) software and speech-enabled solutions, has announced that the newly released Hands-Free Sensei app employs NeoSpeech TTS Japanese voices. Hands-Free Sensei allows users to practice Japanese vocabulary (and, in later versions, kanji - Japanese symbols - and grammar) on their iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.
Following the successful Japanese My Way app, Rakudasoft created the Hands-Free Sensei app as the next, and more sophisticated, program to learn the Japanese language.
“Learning in a class or at home is fun but, if you're like me, you spend a lot of time in the car or outside,” said Ray Price, Rakudasoft founder. “By easily using NeoSpeech speech synthesis (TTS) and speech recognition technology, Hands-free Sensei can ask you questions, your answers then logged and progress tracked to make sure you're always practicing the most personally challenging words and phrases, not the stuff you already know,” he added.
By using NeoSpeech Text to Speech Japanese voices Misaki and Show, Hands-Free Sensei allows Japanese learners to speed up and slow down the speech so the user can proceed at a speed that is comfortable for their level. Users can also pause, play, and go back and forth, just like an audio player. Hands-Free Sensei helps users create their own vocabulary lists to learn the things they want to learn. The vocabulary lists are stored in the cloud so they are synched not only between devices, but also between applications.
Hands-free Sensei requires iOS 5.1 or later and is specifically optimized for iPhone 5.
