Dr. Johanna Youner is the go-to-podiatric surgeon for cutting edge foot treatments. She is the only podiatrist in New York City to perform all three of the latest cutting edge foot treatments; and she does it all in her Park Avenue office. The treatments—Juvederm injectable fillers for foot pain, Nd-Yag laser treatments for fungal nails, as well as Botox injections into the feet—have modernized the approach to foot treatment by combining a cosmetic as well as dermatological approach. These treatments allow patients to avoid costly and painful surgery for foot ailments that often require surgery.
The first of the three revolutionary treatments Dr. Johanna Youner offers is administration of Juvederm injectable filler into the foot. The use of injectable fillers in the feet allows a woman to function in high heeled shoes with decreased pain, and avoid or delay painful surgical procedures such as hammertoe surgery. “Most women need filler or Juvederm injections in their forefoot, especially if they are veteran stiletto wearers. Older woman may want Juvederm for padding on bony prominences like hammertoes. Once injected with Juvederm filler, the patient can function regularly in shoegear and continue normal activities as well as avoid or delay painful foot surgery,” says Dr. Johanna Youner, a Board Certified Forefoot Surgeon.
The second treatment involves Botox. With summer here, Dr. Youner has seen an increase in requests for Botox injectable in the foot for sandal season. Dr. Youner notes, “Botox is an extremely effective treatment for hyperhidrosis, or over-sweating, in the feet. As a podiatrist, I am able to anesthetize the foot safely and comfortably, making the administration of any of the injectables into the feet a comfortable experience. Since we have developed a safe and effective treatment technique, I have patients traveling internationally to my office for Botox and Juvederm injectables, as well as laser treatments with our Q-switched ND-Yag laser.”
The third treatment offered only by Dr. Youner involves laser treatment for nail fungus. The ND-Yag laser has been FDA-approved for clearing nails affected with fungal infections. Dr. Youner explains, “The ND-Yag laser is a safe and effective treatment for nail-based fungal infections without requiring oral medications or blood tests. It is safe and effective, and regrowth of clear nails occurs in nine to twelve months.”
