Providence, RI and Worcester, MA (PRWEB) June 17, 2013
GoLocalProv.com and GoLocalWorcester.com will be respectively releasing comprehensive rankings of “Rhode Island's Best Communities 2013" and “Massachusetts’ Best Communities” starting on Monday, June 17.
Each year, GoLocal collects tens of thousands of pieces of data about each state’s cities and towns. The data ranges from the most recent education testing scores from the Department of Education, data from U.S. Census, FBI crime data, and housing reports to name but a few of the sources.
Based on this latest information available, the rankings take into account affordability, safety, schools, arts, culture, and recreation. Hundreds of hours were spent analyzing thousands of data points to reach the results for the annual list, now in its fourth year in Rhode Island, and second in Massachusetts.
GoLocalWorcester also ranks the Central MA communities in a separate look.
“We have a commitment to big data journalism. We are constantly investing in information that creates value to our users about the quality of their communities,” said Josh Fenton, CEO and Co-Founder of GoLocal24.
"Whether you're a young family starting out, empty nesters, or single and looking to go out, where you decide to call home plays a huge part in your identity, your work-life balance, and your overall sense of being," said Tracey Minkin, Features Editor at GoLocal, who compiled Best Communities along with GoLocal researchers.
This year, each town profile will feature a community-specific poll for voters to choose the best aspects of where they reside for themselves, showing real-time results all week.
"The rankings give people a way to see how their communities stack up against others in the state, and this year, also the chance to weigh in on what they like best about where they live," said Minkin.
Last year, South Kingstown, East Greenwich, and Providence took the top three spots respectively in Rhode Island, while Boston, Barnstable, and Plymouth led the pack in the Commonwealth in 2012.
Check out GoLocalProv.com and GoLocalWorcester.com on Monday, June 17 as GoLocal starts to unveil the state’s top communities in a weeklong rollout, counting down from 39 to the number one Rhode Island, and 351 to the top spot in Massachusetts.
