In an increasingly information-rich world—driven by the explosion of social networking and media, this ‘weakest link’ in the security posture of many organizations is often insufficiently addressed by management.

King of Prussia, PA (PRWEB) June 17, 2013

Allied InfoSecurity announced that it will be presenting its Social Engineering expertise at the ISSA Delaware Valley Meeting to be held on Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, PA.

Michael McKinley, Chief Operating Officer, Allied InfoSecurity, Inc., will address an important subject: “Social Engineering Threats – Tales from the Trenches.”

“Despite significant efforts in deploying robust information security programs, tools and technologies, both proactive social engineering testing and real-world attacks have repeatedly demonstrated how such investments can often be circumvented by exploiting human nature,” says Mr. McKinley. “In an increasingly information-rich world—driven by the explosion of social networking and media,” he continues, “this ‘weakest link’ in the security posture of many organizations is often insufficiently addressed by management.”

Allied InfoSecurity’s presentation will focus specifically on social engineering threats and the impact of social media and networking, the perils of human nature, and strategies for mitigating the risks.

Mr. McKinley’s diverse career as an intelligence officer, security practitioner, corporate controller and entrepreneur gives him a keen understanding of the vital role that the “people side of security” plays in enterprise and organizational risk management. “Having been directly involved in dozens of social engineering and physical security assessments, Mike may not have seen it all—but he sure has seen a lot,” says Al Teufel, President & CEO, Allied InfoSecurity, “and the insights and lessons he has drawn from these experiences are well worth hearing.” Mr. Teufel continues, “Practitioners won’t have any trouble at all applying these lessons to their organizations’ environments.”

The Delaware Valley Chapter of the ISSA serves security professionals in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. Members and sponsors collaborate in sharing knowledge and materials relevant to information/computer/network security.
