Coex, Korea’s Leading Convention and Exhibition Center, has announced the beginning of a redevelopment project which will see its underground mall - the largest in Asia - transformed into a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly space starting this summer. Construction is expected to finish and the new mall re-open in December 2014, and event hosts are reassured that exhibition or convention facilities will not be affected by the plans.
The announcement comes as a move aimed at boosting the center’s global brand image and further attracting international events to the complex sees the creation of a dedicated Coex International Events Marketing Unit.
Previously, international events at Coex had been mutually managed by the center’s existing Convention and Venue teams. This new unit, which will also deal with overseas marketing and promotional efforts, will be devoted solely to providing an optimal service for overseas PCOs, planners and associations bringing conventions to Coex.
Coex is proud to be able to offer a more specialized and dedicated service to its overseas clients than ever before. In addition, the center is working hard to ensure that all business guests enjoy a convenient and stress-free experience during all shows and events, despite the mall reconstruction project.
Upon completion, Coex Mall will boast sprawling luxury indoor and outdoor space, alongside hundreds of domestic and global stores, cafes and eateries. Coex Mall is an integral part of Coex’s complete business and tourism infrastructure, which also includes three on-site premier hotels, a city airport terminal, theatre, casino, and duty-free shopping tower. The convention and exhibition center itself boasts four exhibition halls, and 49 meeting rooms.
