Food4Patriots believes that consumers have the right to know if the food they are purchasing has been genetically modified.

Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) June 20, 2013

According to an article in the New York Times on June 3, 2013, Connecticut became the first state to pass a bill that would require food manufacturers to label products that contain genetically modified ingredients, after other conditions are met.

The law would not take effect until four other states, including at least one state that shares a border with Connecticut, passed similar regulations. It also hinges on those states including Northeastern states with a total population of at least 20 million. More than 20 other states are considering labeling laws, including New York, Maine and Vermont.

Food4Patriots, the supplier of emergency food suitable for long-term storage, survival and emergency preparedness, strongly supports such legislation and urges every state to consider similar legislation. The company believes that consumers have the right to know if the food they are purchasing has been genetically modified. The company also believes that GMO foods could be significantly inferior to food grown from open pollinated, non-genetically modified seeds.

Food4Patriots will be launching soon to help people be prepared for an emergency situation. Among the nutritious foods that will be part of the Food4Patriots’ 72-Hour Emergency Kit, 4-Week Emergency Kit and 3-Month Emergency Kit are:

  •     Blue Ribbon Cheesy Chicken Rice
  •     Ol’ 49ers Hearty Chili
