San Diego, California (PRWEB) June 18, 2013
Last night the San Diego Padres extended their season best winning streak to seven games as they beat the San Francisco Giants 5-3 in the 13th inning. In the 12th inning, Will Venable made a game saving catch that stole the game-winning hit from Juan Perez. Some players are even saying it is the best catch they have ever seen. Moments later in the 13th inning the winning rally began when Alexi Amarista hit for a single. Then he went to third on Chris Denorfia’s single. That’s when pitcher and pinch hitter Andrew Cashner came up and hit a bunt single to mark his sixth career hit and second RBI. Cashner said he has never had a game winning RBI and that it felt really good to do that. San Diego added some more runs when they were walked with the bases loaded. With the loss, the Giants drop to 35-34 and fourth place in the NL West, the firs time since April 8th. With the win the Padres advance to 36-34, and third place in the NL West. They are only one game back from first place and have a .514 winning average. The Padres and Giants will continue their three game series with a game today and tomorrow.
