Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) June 19, 2013
Lumension®, a global leader in endpoint management and security, has been selected by the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust (GDFT) to provide protection against data loss, data theft, and malware intrusion from removable USB drives and other storage media via the Lumension® Device Control solution. The GDFT presently has 17 academies in England, educating over 9,000 students in Nottingham, Leicester, Mansfield, Skegness, Mablethorpe, Ingoldmells, Houghton Regis, Northampton, Derby and Peterborough. The organization operates over 5,000 endpoints in its offices and Academies, utilizing USB memory sticks and DVDs to transport and store large files.
The GDFT handles all operations of their Academies, including recruitment and payroll, managing finances, other central services including information and communications technology (ICT), procurement, catering, data, health and safety and extended opportunities for pupils. There is a great deal of sensitive data that moves through Trust offices – pupil-level data, employee data, payroll data and finances are all calculated and managed on GDFT computers. This information could be transferred to USB devices and DVDs, which can be lost or stolen, and if reused multiple times on multiple endpoints, can spread malware.
“We had no visibility into what was being transported on memory sticks before Lumension,” said Huzaifah Ahmad, Director of ICT at the GDFT. “We also didn’t have good malware protection. Now we can track everything and report on it which is critical for us to meet our compliance requirements and our malware prevention is much better.”
With Lumension® Device Control, the GDFT was able to maintain productivity, while also reducing insider risk by centrally managing security policies regarding the use of removable devices. The solution ensured the GDFT’s data was encrypted and secure when on removable devices, while also preventing malware intrusion, whether or not endpoints were connected to a network. Device Control also facilitated the visibility, forensics and reporting needed for the GDFT to demonstrate compliance.
“We are thrilled with the results the Trust has seen to date,” said C. Edward Brice, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Lumension. “We take pride in knowing that Device Control has enabled the GDFT team to do their jobs better by providing protection across sensitive data.”
