Americans come together in unity each year on Independence Day, July 4 and the number one way to celebrate is by watching fireworks. Shindigz, a national, Fourth of July decorating source, applauds five cities for their outstanding Fourth of July firework displays.
"We looked for the events that stand out from the rest. They might include a large fireworks display, a unique patriotic parade, or a special event that creates special family memories," says Scott Howard, eCommerce Media Specialist at Shindgiz.com.
While the parades, activities, and decorations all make the 4th of July an exciting time, it’s often the fireworks that make or break an Independence Day celebration. Here are the places Shindigz believes are the best places to see fireworks on our nations birthday.
Addison, Texas’ fireworks show, Kaboom Town, is nationally recognized as one of the best in the country. For 30 minutes the crowd is wowed by exploding fireworks choreographed to music that is simulcast on the radio. The show can be seen from anywhere in town, but the most popular viewing spot is Addison Circle Park.
Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks
Macy’s doesn't just put on a good Thanksgiving Day Parade. They also amaze New Yorkers with fireworks over the Hudson River each year. More than 40,000 shells launch from six different barges making for quite a festive spectacle. Macy’s also has a surprise celebrity guest lined up to help create the 2013 show.
Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular
Every year Boston’s Fourth of July event is huge, but 2013 marks the 40th year for the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular. The dramatic show is choreographed with Tchaikovsky’s "1812 overture" played by the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. This year’s featured performer is Academy Award-winning actress and Grammy Award-winning Jennifer Hudson.
Philly’s Fourth of July Jam Concert and Grand Finale Fireworks
Famous musicians like John Mayer, Neo, Grace Potter, Demi Lovato and the Roots will kick off the show before some intense fireworks at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. After a day-long celebration with food, fun and entertainment at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, festival attendees watch an incredible fireworks display over the museum.
Lights on Tahoe South Fireworks
Even the American Pyrotechnics Association rates this show as one of the best. More than 100,000 people show up annually for the fireworks show, which is choreographed to music and broadcast on local radio stations. The fireworks can be seen all over town as they are launched from offshore barges.
