Middletown, NY (PRWEB) June 20, 2013
On June 20, Brian Rosen, builder of Highrose Ridge, a neighborhood of spacious new townhomes, discusses the expected continuation of the housing market recovery.
According to an article in Business Insider, new home sales are expected to continue increasing for a long period of time. Recent reports conducted by the Census Bureau indicate over 153,000 homes were sold up through April 2013, which is a 26.4% increase from the same period in 2012, which sold 121,000. "This is the highest sales total we’ve seen in about five years," says Rosen.
Based on the current trends in 2012, forecasts predict a 22% to 25% uptick in new home sales (or an increase of 450-460,000 new homes) for 2013. The fact that there is “a large increase in the sales rate,” according to the article, suggests there is tremendous upside in the future. The state of the housing market is closely linked to the overall condition of the economy.
Rosen says that as sales rise, so will prices. "Inventory is shrinking, and demand is on the rise. If you’re planning to stay put in your location for more than a three to five years, you may be better off buying than renting. Prospective homebuyers should assess their options now, before prices soar again."
Business Insider expects that sales will "increase to 750 – 800,000 over the next several years – substantially higher than the current sales rate."
