Huntersville, NC (PRWEB) June 19, 2013
Lime Energy Co. (NASDAQ: LIME) announced that they will be accepting the Super Nova Star of Energy Efficiency Award from the Alliance to Save Energy on October 2nd in Washington, DC. Lime Energy received this award on behalf of their innovative Small Business Direct Install (SBDI) model, which provided 81,332 MWh of savings in New York State in 2012. Lime delivered 115% of the combined goal for the small business programs of National Grid, Long Island Power Authority and Central Hudson Gas and Electric. This achievement accounted for nearly 40% of all SBDI savings statewide, as utilities increasingly look to bring energy efficiency programs to their small business customers.
The Alliance to Save Energy, a nonprofit organization that promotes energy efficiency through research, education and advocacy, has been recognizing energy efficiency leaders for over two decades through its Star of Energy Efficiency Awards. Alliance President Kateri Callahan commented that “the 2013 Star of Energy Efficiency Award recipients are some of the strongest in the program’s 21 year history.” In congratulating the slate of winners, Callahan noted that “the Alliance applauds Lime Energy for bringing the benefits of energy efficiency to the often overlooked, but critically important, small business sector.”
“Lime’s success in New York has paved the way for program adoption around the country, and Lime is currently implementing nine small business direct install programs in six states,” said John O’Rourke, President and CEO of Lime Energy. “Lime Energy’s SBDI model is delivering the multiple benefits for which it was designed – small business operating cost reduction, utility energy efficiency goal achievement, economic development and clean air. We’re doing this at unprecedented scale, and with nearly 10,000 projects per year, Lime Energy is advancing these goals by helping another small business every ten minutes.”
