As more and more people regularly use text messaging, Covideo® offers the ability to connect with them using personalized videos to cut through advertising clutter and build closer relationships.
West Lafayette, IN (PRWEB) June 21, 2013
Covideo®, a leading innovator of video email services, announced an update to its mobile app that enables Covideos to be sent as text messages (SMS) in addition to emails. The app is currently available on iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
“This new capability opens up opportunities for companies trying to reach customers and prospects,” said Larry Dorfman, Chairman/CEO of Covideo®. “As more and more people regularly use text messaging, Covideo® offers the ability to connect with them using personalized videos to cut through advertising clutter and build closer relationships. We always strive to give more, and this is an innovative use of technology that delivers on that promise.”
Dorfman continued, “The new Covideo texting feature allows the sender to show and explain services or features to a customer or prospect. For example, a clothing shop might take a minute to snap a Covideo of a new arrival, and a realtor could stand in the middle of a kitchen and make a 360-degree Covideo for a prospect. The list of uses is endless. Texting takes less time than emailing, and many consumers prefer its speed and convenience.”
When a Covideo is sent as a text, the Covideo is uploaded to a server and sent as a hyperlink. The Covideo is streamed with no large file to transfer over text.
Users who currently have the Covideo app installed have received a notification that an update is available. After applying the update, Covideo users can use the app to record and text a video to their customers.
Research shows that text messages have an open rate of over 98% (Frost & Sullivan), compared to an open rate for emails of approximately 20% (Silverpop Email Marketing Metrics Benchmark Study).
In the U.S., there are 326.4 million mobile subscriptions for a population of 311.6 million people according to CTIA, the wireless industry’s trade association. Those phones are frequently used for texting, with more than two trillion text messages sent annually. According to a Pew Institute survey, some 73% of adult cell owners use the text messaging function on their phone at least occasionally.
