Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) April 22, 2013
Community Recycling, a for-profit recycler of textiles with a focus on reuse, today officially announced the unveiling of their new corporate brand identity, with the roll out of a brand new website and not one, but three new programs. Refreshing the company brand, with new ways to recycle and a significant web re-design clearly communicates a bold new approach to an ancient industry.
“The idea of rebranding Community Recycling was raised as we began creating ways for people everywhere to recycle with us,” said Ira Baseman, president of Community Recycling. “We knew timing was critical to make this change, and we quickly realized that spring and Earth Day would be the perfect occasion to release our most robust update to our program offerings in our company’s history.”
Community Recycling holds REUSE at the core of their mission, literally reinventing how people do clothing recycling. With the US EPA telling us that only 15% of US residents participate, they knew they had their work cut our for them.
“We decided to start with the need to disrupt the anonymity that is so rampant in the clothing recycling world. We are confident that we needed awaken the hearts and emotions behind the act of clothing recycling,” said Lisa Pomerantz, VP of Marketing and Business Development for Community Recycling. “We want very much to inspire the part of ‘us’ that seeks connection and elevate that feeling through the act of recycling your gently used clothes, shoes and bags.”
With the new programming, Community Recycling baked the tools of social media into the DNA with content that is visual, fun, engaging and enlightening. They’ve even created a new video show to invite other opportunities for recycling education. Adding social connectivity, a world of convenience, transparency and overall good feeling, Community Recycling is helping you to ‘share forward’ your things. Here are the newest recycling programs:
Recycle your shoes, Find Your SoleMate.
The ancient mystique of ‘message in a bottle’ comes to life with this shoe recycling platform that started this past year. The goal is to have recyclers think about the people who will be wearing their shoes in the near future - the SoleMates. By bringing humanity into the recycling equation, people consider the reusability and re-wear-ability of their shoes before placing them in the box for recycling. Groups (schools, non-profits, brands, retailers and large employers) receive boxes that are pre-labeled with free shipping. Individuals use their own box, and get free shipping. Everyone who recycles has the opportunity to find SoleMates in destinations all over the globe. To date over 1400 groups across 46 states have collected over 500,000 lbs. of shoes, raising funds, seeking SoleMates and creating happy feet along the way.
People Recycling for People
This program is designed specifically for K-5. Instead of holding a school clothing drive, Community Recycling has developed a fully integrated curriculum to support REUSE, engage, teach and entertain, allowing kids to learn about diverse cultures around the globe where their clothes will go. This environmental service project promotes sustainability, geography, social studies, language, art and includes a global mapping project that adds depth to the act of collection for reuse. The more clothes, bags, belts and shoes collected, the more funds and rewards schools can earn. Classrooms here in the US can connect with classrooms around the globe, rethinking ‘local’ by literally bringing communities closer via Community Recycling’s collaboration with Skype In the Classroom.
People Recycling for People
Like most communities, textile waste is a huge burden on campuses, especially on clean out/move out days. Community Recycling now offers customizable solutions for every type of campus situation, making clothing recycling convenient and easy for students, faculty, and surrounding neighborhoods. CR Campus allows us to make sure that all clothes, linens, shoes, bags, belts, bikes, electronics, and more, that didn’t make it home via trains, planes or automobiles, finds a future. This saves the campus in disposal fees, helps the environment and helps the over 70% of the global population that depends on affordable options. Through reuse, CR Campus brings convenient recycling right to the residence halls.
People Recycling for People
What if you can pack up your box of clothes, shoes, bags, belts, and linens; seal it up, add a free shipping label and simply hand it to your postal worker? We are making clothing recycling as easy as mailing a letter, and as meaningful as changing the world! We’ve simply transformed what ‘local’ means and included your community, any community, with our community. Our free shipping label allows you to think differently about how you ‘share forward’ your gently used things. The convenience of CR Home allows you to de-clutter and clean out whenever you need. The accessibility of your postal worker means you never have to leave the house. Mother Earth will smile each and every time you participate.
Expect more to come in the near future from these innovate thinkers and doers of green good, and join the reuse movement, or as they like to call it, People Recycling for People.
