The Founder of Film Consortium, San Diego (formerly the San Diego Independent Filmmakers Consortium) met with Mayor Filner earlier this month to discuss its mission to build a thriving local film industry in San Diego and to increase San Diego’s appeal as a film making destination for outside productions.
“The mayor was very interested in our ideas and the opportunity we see to not only increase film production within San Diego, but also attract production to the region," said Film Consortium Founder Jodi Cilley.
The Film Consortium is new in San Diego and has been working to mobilize the local film production community. It's mission is to increase the quality and quantity of productions coming out of San Diego and to increase funding, distribution, exhibition and job opportunities for local filmmakers, cast and crew. The organization has held several wildly popular networking events that have brought together more than 1500 people.
“Having Mayor Filner at our event is a huge moment for the Film Consortium, as his attendance brings a new level of recognition and support to our community of filmmakers,” continued Cilley. “Already we have been working hand-in-hand with many of the local professionals and businesses across the city and we look forward to creating a similarly collaborative partnership with local government in order to make our vision a reality.”
Additional highlights of the May 3rd event include:
Networking Mixer – Socialize in a relaxed cocktail atmosphere.
