Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 02, 2013

POINT 3 Basketball, the Atlanta-based sports apparel company and maker of “The World’s Best Basketball Shorts,” is bringing its army of Alphas – elite level basketball trainers and coaches dedicated to teaching the game – to Atlanta for the Final Four, and will hold a free basketball clinic for local youth basketball players and residents of the Covenant House. The one-day POINT 3 Alpha Camp will be held on Sunday, April 7th from 12pm to 4 pm ET at the Covenant House Gym located at 1559 Johnson St. Atlanta, GA 30318.

“With the 2013 Final Four being held in Atlanta and as part of our FEAR THE UND3RDOG campaign, we wanted to bring some of the festivities to those who may not have the opportunity to experience it first-hand,” said Michael Luscher, Founder & CEO of POINT 3 Basketball. “This time of year is all about the underdog and the youth at the Covenant House understand more than anyone what it takes for an underdog to win. In life and on the basketball court, it’s that UND3RDOG spirit that forces you to outwork your opponent, outhustle the competition and accomplish unthinkable feats.”

During the camp, POINT 3 Alphas will take participants through basketball skills training exercises including drills for conditioning, ball handling, shooting and defense. All POINT 3 Alpha Camps nationwide include a uniform buzzer beater challenge with participant times posted to a national online registry, and close with a life skills and off-court development seminar. To round out this special event there will be a pick-up game with Alphas, POINT 3 staff and any media who would like to join.

"For kids who have been homeless, out on the streets, health and wellness programs are an important component of their recovery", said Allison Ashe, CHGA Executive Director. "Covenant House is grateful to POINT 3 Basketball for providing an opportunity for our young people to participate in the Final Four and experience firsthand the role the sport of basketball can play in creating a healthier lifestyle."

All participants in the camp will receive “The World’s Best Basketball Shorts”, which include POINT 3’s patented DRYV® Moisture Control, designed to keep ballplayers’ hands dry on the court.
