Liferay, Inc., provider of the world’s leading enterprise-class open source portal platform, announced today the opening of a new office in France as the most recent expansion of Liferay’s presence in Europe. Franck Verbeke, who joins Liferay with 25 years of sales and management experience in the enterprise software market, is leading the company’s effort to serve customers in France’s thriving market for Liferay’s portal and collaboration technologies.

The new presence comes in response to proven demand for Liferay’s products in France, where companies are investing in the open source portal technology to increase online engagement and customer loyalty. Liferay’s ability to provide a single user experience across multiple channels has also been valuable to customers implementing strategic brand consolidation initiatives.

Mr. Verbeke joins the company at a time of strong growth in France, with many corporations in the CAC 40, its benchmark stock market index, already on Liferay’s customer list. That includes three of France’s major banks, which are using Liferay across a spectrum of projects that are designed to reduce operating costs and improve customer services online. Liferay is well known in the French IT community as a strong web solution platform, and its popularity is reflected in the company’s local partner roster of 11 companies.

Mr. Verbeke joins Liferay with broad experience starting and expanding operations for software and high-tech companies in France and other parts of Europe. He joined Interleaf in 1995, working in the enterprise sales division for five years before moving to Activcard to start the authentication solutions provider’s southern Europe operations. He also previously acted as the country manager for WCM content management company Fatwire, growing its France operations over four years, and founded Magicaxess, an authentication and electronic signature solutions provider for which he served as Chief Operating Officer.
