A New Kind of Party for Marriage Equality: Mommy-oke & Burle-oke Come to Brooklyn on Mother’s Day

People in Brooklyn from all walks of life will be engaging in creative acts of karaoke in celebration of the recent surge in support for marriage equality. The event is split into two parts: a family-friendly party where moms and kids karaoke together, and a party for adults where burlesque performers and karaoke singers come together.

Celebrating the historic new levels of support for marriage equality, four groups are teaming up to host a two-part event on May 12th in Brooklyn seeking to change the way people think about love and parties. Arts for Peace, A Big Project, Dangerous Mathematicians and The Kings of Karaoke are inviting LGTBQ and the people who love them to unite for the following events:

Part 1: Rated G (For Queer and Queer-friendly Families)
Mommy-oke = Mother’s Day Rock Out for Marriage Equality
May 12th
5pm-7:30pm
The Rock Shop
249 4th Ave, Park Slope, Brooklyn
Moms and kids of all sexual and gender orientations rock out together for family karaoke.

Part 2: Rated R (For Queer and Queer-friendly Adults)
Burleoke Benefit! (Burlesque + Karaoke = Burleoke)
Hosted by the World Famous *BOB*
May 12th
8:30pm-11pm
The Rock Shop
249 4th Ave, Park Slope, Brooklyn
Burlesque performers are paired up with karaoke singers to entertain the crowd.

Special performances will feature new fashion for LGBT weddings by Dangerous Mathematicians.

Guests at both parties will be able to order food and drinks on the outdoor patio, try on lesbian tuxedos, get photographed in a giant flower booth, share their notions of what love means, and engage in new type of karaoke that wows the crowd. $5-50 suggested donation.
