With increasing numbers of collegiate and professional athletes adopting the ElliptiGO as part of their training regimen, we knew it was just a matter of time before they’d want to start racing them on the track.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) April 26, 2013

ElliptiGO Inc., creators of the world’s first elliptical bicycle, today announced that the inaugural RE:RUN San Diego Road Race and Track Meet on May 5th will feature the first-ever one-mile ElliptiGO race on a running track. Elite masters runner and reigning ElliptiGO world champion Rusty Snow will take on pro runner Craig Leon in the men’s division. The women’s division will feature 2008 Olympic marathoner Magdalena Lewy Boulet challenging 2012 NCAA Division II Track Athlete of the Year, Betsy Graney. The winner of each race will establish a new ElliptiGO record and be awarded $1,000 in prize money.

“It’s a real honor to be introducing this new style of racing at a professional track meet of RE:RUN’s caliber,” stated Bryan Pate, Co-Founder and Co-President of ElliptiGO. “With increasing numbers of collegiate and professional athletes adopting the ElliptiGO as part of their training regimen, we knew it was just a matter of time before they’d want to start racing them on the track. We couldn’t be happier with the athletes who are pioneering this new sport or with the how receptive the team at RE:RUN has been to the idea.”

Since its introduction in 2010, the ElliptiGO has become the cross-training tool of choice for more than 70 elite athletes as well as dozens of university and professional teams around the world. The ElliptiGO Mile at RE:RUN is one of five ElliptiGO-only events planned for 2013. Others include the ElliptiGO Double in Colorado, the New England ElliptiGO Summer Classic in Massachusetts, and the World Championships of Elliptical Cycling in California.

In addition to the four racers in the ElliptiGO Mile, several other ElliptiGO athletes will be competing in the track meet include 2012 Olympic 800-meter runner and National Champion Alysia Montaño, 2012 Olympic 800-meter runner Geena Gall, 8-Time All American Katie Mackey, and 2012 USA Road 10K Champion Chelsea Reilly.
