The highly sophisticated diagnostic imaging equipment at HDH’s Radiology Center offers modern fluoroscopic, radiographic, magnetic resonance (MRI), and ultrasound imaging, as well as non-invasive cardiology studies. The new CT scanner provides radiology technicians and doctors the ability to obtain superior, high resolution, low-dose radiation CT images of patients. Patient’s of the Radiology Center at HDH wait an average of only 10 minutes to have fast, accurate diagnostic images taken by a team of experienced physicians and lab technicians.
CT scans produce X-ray images in cross sections that enable doctors to view ‘slices’ of specific areas of the patient’s body. The Aquilon™ 64 can scan internal structures with remarkable speed, and once the slices are captured, the software produces three-dimensional images of the patient’s internal structure under observation. HDH diagnosticians have complete control of these images and can view them from multiple angles. Fast-scanning capabilities also reduce image distortion of soft tissues and moving organs, such as the heart and lungs. The technology is especially useful for examining patients who are unable to hold their breath for longer than 5-10 seconds.
Bridgit Graydon, Imaging Manager at HDH’s Radiology Center, explains, “We are grateful to have and proud to operate the cutting-edge imaging equipment and software available at the Radiology Center. The Aquilon™ 64 can produce higher quality, clearer images while limiting the amount of radiation patients are exposed to by up to 40 percent. Both patients and technicians appreciate the efficiency of the machine, as the Aquilon 64 can capture precise images in less than 10 seconds, and the superior image quality ensures that our patients receive the best diagnostic care available.”
In addition to the new CT-scanner at the Radiology Center, largely thanks to the efforts of the Healthcare Foundation Northern Sonoma County, and generous donations and support by the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians and the Girlfriends for the Cure, HDH’s Women’s Diagnostic Center provides comprehensive patient screening with the latest in digital mammography and DEXA bone density scanning.
