Ellumen, a provider of professional services and IT solutions for government and commercial customers, is proud to announce its senior security architect, Dennis M. Seymour, is invited and will present at the upcoming “mHealth and Wireless Medical Technology” conference. The conference takes place April 29 through May 1 at the Washington Plaza Hotel in Washington, D.C. Seymour, who holds CISSP and ITILv3 certifications, will be speaking as part of a panel on “Safeguarding Your Data While Minimizing the Risk of Security Breaches,” taking place at 1:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 30.
The mHealth and Wireless Medical Technology conference, hosted by the American Conference Institute, features a jam packed line up. Government officials, industry leading counsel and influential healthcare executives will be on hand to discuss key legal, business and technical aspects of building secure mobile healthcare apps and in other areas in healthcare technology and innovation.
Seymour is participating on a panel presentation aiming to help attendees interpret and stay cognizant of liability and privacy concerns related to securing mobile and medical devices, networks and patient information. He will share best practices, real-world experience and how-tos to address everything from securing networks to authentication methods for devices to auditing standards for data in the cloud and mobile device management.
The panelists will also examine incidents that pose serious threats, such as hacking, viruses and malware, and other risks, and provide attendees with steps to get started on building a scalable security plan that supports the increasing number of mobile platforms, mobile devices and mobile apps that transact sensitive patient information.
Seymour chairs the HIMSS Privacy & Security Steering Committee, serves on the HIMSS Mobile Device Security Work Group, the Medical Device Security Task Force, and the Risk Assessment Work Group. He has over 18 years of federal healthcare security-specific experience, having managed over $36 million in contracts for the Department of Veterans Affairs in areas, including policy development, system controls assessment and certification, and medical device security policy development and compliance with HIPAA, NIST, FISMA, and other requirements.
