International Flooring and Protective Coatings, Inc. completed removal of the existing non-skid flooring from the flight deck of the USS Theodore Roosevelt using state-of-art, engineered equipment. IFPC's water jetting machinery outperformed existing competitive standards, enabling a process efficiency which ultimately improved work flow and significantly reduced costs. "IFPC finished almost three weeks ahead of schedule," stated Jason Robinson, Subcontract Coordinator for Northrop Grumman. "IFPC has done excellent work with great communication throughout the entire job," Robinson adds. The company used 40,000 psi ultra high pressure from specially engineered water jetting equipment to take up the existing non-skid flooring so that engineers could inspect the steel deck for cracks and stress on the welds and seams. Once the base flooring was secured, IFPC applied a primer coat and a temporary non-skid coating which will ultimately be replaced once the Roosevelt comes out of the Northrop Grumman shipyard in Newport News, Va. At that time, the temporary flooring will be replaced with a permanent non-skid system.
