Warrior Custom Golf is proud to support the ''31st Annual Angels Baseball Foundation 65 Roses Golf Classic'' benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation held on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Los Coyotes Country Club in Buena Park, California. 1979 Angels MVP Don Baylor and Angels Manager Mike Sciosia will co-host the event in an effort to raise funds to find a cure for the devastating disease, Cystic Fibrosis. Since the events inception, it has raised close to $5 million dollars to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
In 1979, after he saw the devastating effects of Cystic Fibrosis, Don Baylor decided he wanted to do more. Don Baylor and the Angels took the offense by trading baseball bats for golf clubs to create the Sixty-Five Roses Golf Classic. The event continues to receive support from Angels Manager Mike Sciosia and the Angels Baseball Foundation.
This year’s tournament in its 31st consecutive year is expected to attract 230 golfers and generate over $250,000. "The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would like to thank Warrior Custom Golf for getting involved with this event and in turn helping children with Cystic Fibrosis," said Erin Ehlers Director of Special Events for the So Cal-Orange County Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Proceeds from the event will go to support the continual work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation which started back in 1955, when a group of parents set their sights to advance understanding of this disease, to create new treatments, provide specialized care for children and to find a cure.
Special guest eleven year old ''Emily Daskas'' who is battling with CF will be performing at the event. Emily's family is extremely active raising funds for a cure. Each month Emily takes over 1100 pills, takes 180 breathing treatments, has 15 hours of vest treatments and spends 120 hours on a feeding tube. Each month! While the treatments and doctor's visits take many, many hours, this has not slowed Emily down.
