City of Industry, CA (PRWEB) September 25, 2009
By the end of 2009, any Elavon merchant that processes, stores, and/or transmits cardholder data will have to comply to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), a set of bankcard association requirements intended to ensure a secure processing environment. U.S. Bankcard Services, Inc., a leader in credit card processing, seeks to educate Elavon merchant account holders about the impending changes to the current standards.
All merchants are required to comply with PCI DSS. U.S. Bankcard Services, Inc. and Elavon have partnered with Trustwave Information Security and Compliance to ensure all their mutual merchants receive the best possible service and protection. Existing merchants boarded before October 2008 and not previously notified of validation requirements should have received a notice in August explaining how to become validated. Any merchant not validated will be billed a non-compliance monthly fee on their September statement. Merchants that meet the requirements for Multi Locations as it relates to the PCI Compliance program, as well as merchants on a Foreign Network, have been excluded from this mailing and will be addressed in a separate mailing later in 2009. Merchants boarded between October 1, 2008 and August 10, 2009 will be provided with compliance notifications beginning November 2009.
All merchants will be categorized into one of four levels to be determined by the merchant's Visa transaction volume over a 12-month period. Deadlines are specific for different levels. To learn more, visit Visa's website for information.
U.S. Bankcard Services, Inc. merchants have 90 days after notification to provide their compliance validation certificate through the Trustwave website or a $20 non-compliance fee will be assessed monthly until validation is provided. Currently, all US merchants accepting Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and/or Discover are required to be PCI compliant and those processing through U.S. Bankcard Services, Inc. will be included in the Elavon PCI Compliance program with the exception of Cash Advance locations.
To provide the compliance certificate provided by a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) other than Trustwave to Elavon, U.S. Bankcard Services, Inc. merchants should access Elavon's PCI page and upload certification materials to Trustwave. Trustwave will review and confirm the validity of the information, and provide Elavon with the appropriate status which will ensure that the appropriate PCI Validation Fee will be assessed. Merchants without Internet access can contact U.S. Bankcard Services, Inc.'s Customer Service department via fax (1-888-688-8396) or phone (1-888-468-1155) to obtain the appropriate validation documents through Trustwave.
