Wild and Scenic’ river in Arizona.
Sedona, AZ (Vocus) March 18, 2010
Sedona Adventure Tours is the first and only outfitter/guide to offer both land and water adventures on the Verde River. Spring and summer tours include ‘funyaking’ and tubing, Water to Wine Tasting Tours, Red Rock hiking tours, Vortex hiking tours and more!
Guided ‘Funyaking’ trips are a blast and a great way for the whole family to enjoy an all day adventure on the only designated “Wild and Scenic’ river in Arizona. “Funyaks” are high tech inflatable kayaks that are very light, very maneuverable and very stable. No experience is necessary. The Sedona Adventure Tour guides will make it enjoyable for everyone. Single and tandem boats are available to accommodate families with small children and different sized paddlers.
The Verde River runs 200 miles through three national forests and offers unlimited possibilities for kayakers and sightseers. The river drops at an average rate of 20 feet per mile and is well channeled with full gentle chutes and interspersed with calm floating pools. The lush foliage along its banks includes cottonwoods, sycamores and cattails and a host of wild flowers. Often spotted wildlife includes beaver, otter, mule deer and an incredible variety of bird life including golden and bald eagles.
A delicious lunch, snacks and water are included in the adventure as well as all the gear needed to make the river experience safe, comfortable and fun. Special spring family rates apply for four or more.
The wine country tours with Sedona Adventures cover the territory better than anyone else. Relax and enjoy the ride while visiting up to six area wineries with much tasting, much sightseeing and no concern about driving yourself back to the hotel. Various tour packages include a guided Water to Wine ‘funyak’ float trip on the Verde River followed by wine tasting at Alcantara Vineyards or a fully guided afternoon visiting the tasting rooms of Jerome and wineries of Page Springs. The Sedona Adventure Wine Tasting Tour starts in Jerome at Maynard James Keenan’s Caduceus Cellars & Merkin Vineyards. Keenan, leader of the rock band Tool, recently received acclaim for his documentary Blood Into Wine. The tasting tour continues at the Bitter Creek tasting room and then onto lunch at Grapes Restaurant. There’s always a little time left to visit Jerome’s unique galleries and boutiques. Continuing on to Alcantara Vineyard and Eric Glomski’s Page Springs Cellars & Vineyards along Oak Creek, followed by visits to Javelina Leap Vineyard and Winery and Oak Creek Vineyards.
