Algaeventure Systems, Inc., the creator of a disruptive dewatering technology, the Harvest, Dewater, and Dry (“HDD”) System, is pleased to announce its selection of Houlihan Smith & Company, Inc. as its financial advisor in connection with its current capital raise as Algaeventure Systems continues to grow and develop its business and further its technology. Led by Managing Director Reginald McGaugh, Houlihan Smith’s team of advisors will work directly with Algaeventure Systems management team to find creative solutions to support Algaeventure Systems’ growth and capital needs.
Algaeventure Systems, Inc. received the seventh highest funding award from the inaugural round of transformational energy research projects by the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy program (ARPA-E), Algaeventure Systems has created an innovative technology capable of separating solids from liquids which could provide for economic viability of algae to fuels. This groundbreaking technology is an innovative separation solution that removes water from suspended solids in an energy-effective manner that reduces energy consumption far below the levels required by other processes, such as reverse osmosis or traditional centrifugal methods.
“We’ve developed a transformational technology that provides efficiency to some of the most inefficient processes,” said Ross Youngs, Founder and CEO of Algaeventure Systems. “We are looking to continue our innovation and make additional long-term investments into our businesses infrastructure, and Houlihan Smith will be instrumental in our efforts.”
The Company’s innovative technology is applicable across multiple industries, including chemical processing, mining and mineral processing, food processing, pharmaceutical and biotechnology research and production, and solid-fuel processing. Algaeventure Systems is led by a highly experienced management team with more than 100 years of combined relevant experience, and works with many industry leading collaborators from leading universities, national labs, research institutions and industry leading companies to further develop its unique, cutting-edge technology.
“Algaeventure Systems is innovating and developing low energy technologies that enable the emerging biomass and bioenergy markets and have immediate application across many existing industries, including waste water remediation, food processing and industrial dewatering applications” said Reginald McGaugh, Managing Director at Houlihan Smith. “This kind of groundbreaking innovation is crucial to our economy’s future.”
Founded by Ross O. Youngs in 2008, Algaeventure Systems was created to develop technologies that could process algae into bioplastic materials. Extensive research has shown these materials can provide the same performance as petroleum-based plastics. Leading energy companies and institutions including NASA, Honda Motor Company, and Marathon Petroleum Company have offered their support as well as letters of recognition to Algaeventure Systems for its achievements.
Mr. Youngs is an established leader in the conservation of both natural and industrial resources, inventing several groundbreaking products and innovative technologies. Additionally, Mr. Youngs was honored by the U.S. Small Business Administration as “Businessperson of the Year” in 1998. His company Univenture, along with Battelle and the Ohio Soybean Council, was presented with an R&D 100 Award from R&D Magazine for the collaborative achievement of producing a binder partially made from soy byproduct. Univenture has also earned a place in Inc.’s Hall of Fame for achieving a place on the Inc. 500 list of 500 Fastest-Growing Companies for five years.
