Surgeon General Regina Benjamin to Speak at Meharry Medical College Convocation

Dr. Benjamin will address students at the Meharry Medical College 135th Convocation Ceremony. Held annually in the fall, Meharry’s convocation ceremony marks the beginning of the academic year and celebrates the scholarly success of students and faculty.

Regina M. Benjamin, M.D., MBA is the 18th Surgeon General of the United States Public Health Service. As America’s Doctor, she provides the public with the best scientific information available to improve their health. Dr. Benjamin oversees the operational command of 6,500 uniformed health officers. She is founder and former CEO of the Bayou La Batre Rural Health Clinic in Alabama and former Associate Dean for Rural Health at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile.
