RMI Management, LLC (RMI) congratulates all seven members of the Sun City Aliante homeowners’ association board of directors for obtaining the Dedicated Community Association Leader (DCAL) designation from the Community Association Institute (CAI) Nevada chapter. The Sun City Aliante board is now the first in Nevada to have all its members earning this designation.

The board members chose to pursue the designation as a way to ensure they were informed of the legal, financial and community obligations of their role on the HOA board of directors.

“It shows a great deal of dedication to their community that these seven individuals chose to obtain their DCAL designations,” said Kevin Wallace, president of RMI, which serves as the property management company to Sun City Aliante HOA. ”They chose to do this on their own time and because of their dedication and commitment to the community.”

The DCAL designation process includes a minimum of 26 hours of classroom instruction on topics such as budgeting, legal aspects, ethics, risk management, as well as attendance at a Common-Interest Communities (CIC) Commission meeting or researching and writing an article for publication.

The designation must be renewed every two years and requires attendance at a seminar updating any new legislation enacted, as well a continuing education course.

During the DCAL designation process, participants learn the basics of leading their association, including financial requirements, how to avoid conflicts of interest, adherence to the CAI ethics policy and ways to communicate and work with the homeowners in their community.

Sun City Aliante HOA board members include Don Schaefer, Mark Smith, Rita Worrell, Jerry Overton, Owen Egge, Judith Hansen and Mark Pallans.
