The Muscular Dystrophy Association(MDA) and REV Your Cause LLC (RYC) are proud to announce an alliance on the Throttle Muscle line of fuel and engine additives used to promote better fuel economy and longer engine life in vehicles. Each purchase of Throttle Muscle will help support MDA’s development of life saving treatments for muscle diseases and will provide hope for today by funding clinic services that make life easier for those MDA serves.
MDA and RYC came together as a result of a separate fundraising campaign with MDA national sponsor Jiffy Lube. The Throttle Muscle product concept directly connects the brand’s name to MDA’s mission to find treatments and cures for “muscle” diseases. Also, it allows service centers like Jiffy Lube to offer engine and fuel products they regularly sell in centers, with the added charitable giving component for MDA. RYC has signed agreements with several Jiffy Lube locations to offer Throttle Muscle products on a year-round basis.
“After meeting MDA Goodwill Ambassador Abbey Umali and the dedicated MDA staff, we knew we had to do something to make a difference,” said Veronica Apodaca, donation accounts manager with Rev Your Cause. “This is a great opportunity for MDA to reach a new audience, and provide Jiffy Lube a way to build trust and customer loyalty though its longtime support of MDA’s mission”
Industry sources indicate that approximately 91 percent of today’s quick lube centers offer some form of fuel or oil treatment. “While this presents a great opportunity from a giving standpoint, it also is a great outlet for consumer education and outreach for MDA,” said MDA Executive Vice President of Business Development Kevin Moran. “It’s through partners like Jiffy Lube, Rev Your Cause and Throttle Muscle products that we continue to create opportunities to engage businesses and communities in simple ways to support MDA.”
According to Throttle Muscle’s Marketing Programs and Social Media Manager Tara Mead, 82 percent of respondents to a national survey conducted by the Automotive Service Consumer Opinion Council (ASCOC) indicated they’d be more likely to choose a service provider that supports a charitable cause. Of those same respondents, 85 percent indicated they would add on a product they would benefit from if it was for a charitable cause. Over 75 percent of those that indicated they would add on a product also indicated they would pay more for that product if they knew a portion was going to a charitable cause.
“While we are entering a very competitive marketplace, we feel there is a definite niche for our product and offering,” said Mead. “Not only will we be donating about 10 percent of the sale proceeds from each product to MDA, but we are providing sales support and customer giveaway items carrying the MDA message, which will help reinforce the end customers’ donation.”
Throttle Muscle products are being manufactured by one of the leading automotive chemical manufacturers in the world. They will be marketed and supported by MDA and RYC. The products will be available direct or through national distributors such as Service Champ and Jiffy Supply.
