Mississauga, Ontario (PRWEB) May 09, 2013
Sault College is excited to announce its newest partnership with a leading Canadian corporate jet charter provider and regional airline, Air Georgian, through its Mentor Program beginning in May 2013.
Air Georgian’s Pilot Mentor Program, launched in 2008, selects high-achieving college and university graduates from recognized aviation programs to continue their learning experience while on the job.
“We’ve had great success with this program,” notes Kristen Menecola, Corporate Support and Recruitment Coordinator at Air Georgian. “Each pilot in the mentor program has their flight progress tracked and reviewed to support their continued growth. This is a great opportunity for aviation students at Sault College to enter the industry with a leading regional carrier.”
Sault College’s school of Aviation is eligible to provide Air Georgian with candidates for the Air Georgian Mentor Program from the 2013 graduating class. Prospective students will be invited for an interview and selection process at Air Georgian offices in Mississauga. The interview and selection process consists of situational questions, technical knowledge assessment as well as cognitive and personality testing with the final step being a simulator evaluation in a B1900D simulator at Flight Safety in Toronto.
“Sault College’s Aviation School is considered one of the best flight schools in Canada. We are confident that the students will represent our College with the high standards expected in the aviation field,” notes Greg Mapp, Operations Manager for the Aviation Technology Flight program at Sault College.
Successful applicants will be placed in Air Georgian’s hiring pool and once a position in an upcoming ground school becomes available, students will be granted a letter of offer. Hired students will fly as mentors until they reach the minimum requirements to be released from the program, after which they will fly as First Officers. The Mentor Program is a great opportunity for young, skilled pilots to fly for a 704 operator, in the Air Canada Express family.
