Anna Maria College is proud to announce the launch of its new online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program with specializations in Health Informatics and Sport Management, as well as a General Track. This innovative online degree combines a rigorous business administration master’s degree program with two highly specialized concentrations that address immediate and growing needs in the business management marketplace.
The field of Health Informatics has grown exponentially in the wake of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, the 2009 law that governs and promotes the adoption of electronic health records and other digital healthcare data. While healthcare providers, insurance companies and other organizations are now collecting and analyzing an overwhelming amount of digital material, few academic healthcare programs exist to prepare the men and women who must manage, secure and use this data to make informed business decisions. Anna Maria College is now one of only three institutions in the nation to offer an online master’s level program specific to Health Informatics, and career opportunities for graduates are expected to be strong.
“This is a ground-floor opportunity for healthcare professionals to position themselves for leadership roles in a critically important and rapidly growing new career field,” says Elzbieta Manos, Program Director. “Sound business decision-making is essential in today’s healthcare marketplace, and the keys to success are in the analysis of the digital data now at a provider’s fingertips.”
Sport Management is another emerging industry that lends itself particularly well to online education. From high school to college to the professional leagues, effective management of human resources, facilities and marketing is required to grow what has become a significant business endeavor at all levels.
“Athletics and recreation now represent major revenue streams for school districts, municipalities and smaller professional leagues, to say nothing about the economic powerhouses of collegiate and national pro sports,” says Lloyd L. Hamm Jr. Dean of the School of Business at Anna Maria College. “The industry is calling out for business-minded professionals who can manage the many off-the-field details that turn sports into big business.”
For students who are still exploring multiple career options, the Anna Maria College MBA also offers a general track, allowing students to customize the MBA curriculum to match their own personal and professional goals. The online Masters of Business Administration at AMC is also unique in its commitment to the ethical study of business management.
Applications for the online Master of Business Administration with specializations in Health Informatics and Sport Management as well as the general track are being accepted now.
